Whether you are breaking, legally ending the lease or hold tenancy at will (TAW),
you should give your landlord a minimum of 30 days ( usually one rental period) written
notice on or before the start of the month you plan to vacate. Owners/ Agents appreciate
as much notice as possible , along with your cooperation in letting them show the apartment
to possible new renters. Usually, the easier you make the process of re-renting the apartment
the easier it is for you to move out.
Cleaning the Apartment
To avoid arguments and possible deductions from your security deposit, you
should leave the apartment as clean as it was when you moved in. Plan on having
all cleaning and the removal of your personal belongings done prior to your final
move out date to avoid being charged any fees. Click on the link to the left to print
our cleaning checklist to be sure you won't miss anything.
Notifying Utility Companies
Notify your Phone, Cable, Electric, Gas /Heating Companies of your move and when to terminate services.
